A World Without Books

Can you imagen a world without books? Books are important because without books a lot of things we know would be lost. I bet you’re thinking, “oh I could just look it up on my phone.” Well actually no, you couldn’t, because we wouldn’t have phones. We wouldn’t have phones because without books, the first person to program a computer wouldn’t have had any way to record how to do it, so all that information would be lost. Also, many religions rely on books. Without books most religions wouldn’t have grown but died. We also would not be able to learn much in school, because nothing to learn could have been recorded. There would be no right way to spell, no math facts nothing. Sound like bliss? Where would we get our news if no one knew anything? We would be clueless. People talking to each other could only get us so far. Eventually it would end up like a huge telephone game. Now the next time a teacher asks you to read a book for school, don’t just groan, think “Imagen a world without books.”

The Dear Canada Series

                                                                               A Great Series

One of my favorite series is the Dear Canada series. It is all about historical times. There is no order in which to read the books, which is nice because you may not have access to all the books.

So far, I have read three of the Dear Canada books. The first one I read was called Where the River Takes Me. Then I read To Stand on My Own. It is about a girl who gets polio during the polio epidemic. I am now reading Turned Away. Turned away is about a Jewish girl and her family during World War two. It is very good, and I am already on page 177. I only started it yesterday, but it was so good!

Another nice thing about the series is that there are a few different authors who write the Dear Canada series, so you can get a taste of different styles of writing. With that said, their writing is not so different that the books sound too different when you read them.

Well, that’s all I’m going to say about the Dear Canada books for now, because you really should read them for yourself to know if you will like them or not, because everyone has different reading preferences. Well, bye for now!
